NHL DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 3/9/17
Prices listed are FantasyDraft/FanDuel/DraftKings
Jean-Gabriel Pageau (8500/4400/4200) – Pageau isn’t one of the more notable names on the Ottawa team, but he’s in a great position tonight. He’s dirt cheap, and in a really good matchup against the Arizona Coyotes. On top of it all, he’s seen his play trending upward. All of these things make him a nice play tonight.
Jonathan Toews (14300/7400/6900) – It isn’t many nights that we wouldn’t at least want to consider Toews, and tonight will be no different. Anaheim has been headed in the wrong direction defensively, and I think this is a really good play at a modest price tonight.
Anze Kopitar (10700/6100/5200) – I’ve mentioned several different times that I love to target the Nashville Predators, because they tend to give up just as many points at they score. Kopitar has been seeing things on the ice very well and this home matchup will suit his status on the top line. He’s been productive in three straight games and I think tonight will make it four.
Evgeny Kuznestov (13200/6700/6400) – Kuz is one of my favorite players when the Caps hit the road, and that’s exactly where we will find them tonight. He’s got really strong upside against a Sharks team that can be guilty of giving up some big games. I like his chances of scoring tonight.
Johnny Gaudreau (12900/7100/6200) – It’s been a long while since Johnny Hockey has been in our breakdown, but there is no questioning the opportunity for him here tonight. The price is fair, and I love using him on home ice. The Canadiens have been giving it up lately, so Gaudreau will be one of my top targets tonight.
Brayden Schenn (11300/5500/5500) – Philadelphia destroyed Buffalo on Tuesday night, and they take their show on the road once again. This time, they will be taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs, which are another team that I love to stack against. Schenn is cheap and plays on a line that can score, so he’ll be another one of my favorite targets tonight.
Jason Chimera (6500/3400/3300) – Let’s wrap the wings up tonight with some serious value. I’ll start with Jason Chimera. Who? Exactly. He’s been around for quite awhile, and even though he’s nowhere near a consistent option, he’s someone that I think you could plug in tonight and see a point out of. Vancouver can give it up, and this road matchup suits him perfectly.
Gabriel Landeskog (8800/4900/4400) – I generally make it a rule to not use players from Colorado, but I really have no respect for the Devils on the road. The top line of the Avalanche are all cheap, and they could all make for good tournament options that will have rock bottom ownership.
Nikita Zaitsev (9000/4300/4200) – I think that this Philadelphia/Toronto game could very well end up being quite high scoring, so we want to have good exposure. I like Zaitsev for Toronto in what could be a great chance to use him cheap. He’s shown upside this year and has to be on your radar.
Drew Doughty (10200/5400/5000) – Doughty hasn’t really inspired any confidence as of late, but I think I’m good with going to the well against the Predators tonight. This, as well, could be a high scoring game, so it will be important to lock in some plays from this game into our lineups as well.
Nick Leddy (9100/4400/4500) – Next up at the position, we can head back to the Islanders/Canucks game and talk some Nick Leddy. Like many teams in the NHL, it’s tough to see exactly how the production from the defensive position is going to come from, and that can be the case with the Islanders at times. I think Leddy is the one I’d rather use, though, so thats the direction we’ll head in tonight.
Erik Karlsson (14800/7300/7200) – Last up, we’ll go with one of the most highly priced options on the slate that could come through tonight in a big way. He’s expensive, but he really does have upside that only a few at the position have. He’ll be a staple in the lineups I can fit him in. This is an excellent matchup against the Coyotes.
Chicago Goalie – I think my favorite place to start at the goalie position tonight will be with Chicago. Having home ice advantage over a questionable road team in the Anaheim is all the motivation I need to lock them in tonight.
New York Islanders Goalie – If you want to pick on a bad team with a road goalie, this is it. The Islanders have played solid defense at times, and with this game against a team that struggles to score, it could be a great tournament fit.
