NHL DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 3/10/17

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NHL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Prices listed are FantasyDraft/FanDuel/DraftKings

Paul Stastny (9900/4000/4800) – Let’s get things started tonight with Paul Stastny of the St. Louis Blues. The Blues will get the home ice matchup with the struggling Anaheim Ducks who will continue their road trip. This is a great spot to roll out Stastny, who has a great matchup and will be on home ice. He is very affordable and we could see him come through tonight with great production for this price.

Artem Anisimov (10300/5700/4900) – It’s worth noting that Anisimov has been priced much higher than this throughout the year, so I do feel like we are getting a discount. He hasn’t been as sharp as the start of the season, but I think tonight is a great time to roll Chicago’s line 2 out. They’ll be playing on the road against the Red Wings, who haven’t exactly been the toughest to score on this year. He makes a nice tournament option.

Wings –

Jason Zucker (10300/4800/5000) – Zucker jumps out at me specifically on FanDuel because of the fact that he has scored something like 48 points in 60 games, and is still sub-5k. That’s nuts. The Wild are in an excellent position tonight as they face off with the Florida Panthers on the road, and a guy like Zucker plays the perfect type of play in tournaments. Don’t hesitate to put him in at least a few.

Phil Kessel (13600/7300/6600) – Kessel is my overall top play of the day in what should be a very fun game against the Edmonton Oilers. The Penguins are potent regardless of what ice they are skating on, but playing the numbers, it’s probably a better situation for Kessel on Oilers ice. I think he could be a great guy to build around and I’m expecting a mulit-point outing from him tonight.

Defensemen –

Zach Werenski (10900/5200/5300) – One of the truest ways to approach NHL DFS is by playing whoever is going up against the Buffalo Sabres. The Blue Jackets are a great team to target tonight as well, and I think one of the best guys to grab to get exposure to them will be with Werenski. He’s got a ton of upside in a matchup like this, and his price isn’t too bad either.

Ryan Suter (9500/5400/4700) – Suter is another good option on the slate tonight. Minnesota can be frustrating when it comes to figuring out where and what production is going to come from blue liners. Still, this is a fair matchup all things considered, and I think you could do a lot worse by using Suter. If you think that Minnesota is going to score some goals, this is a nice option to go.

Goalies –

Columbus Goalie – It’s a numbers game in NHL DFS if you play whatever goalie is facing teams like Buffalo, Arizona and Vancouver. We just saw Sergei Bobrovsky post a shutout against the New Jersey Devils a few nights ago, and I think the same type of outing could be in play tonight.
