NHL DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 2/6/18

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NHL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Prices listed are FanDuel/DraftKings

Blake Wheeler (7100/7400) – This definitely feels like a much better play on FanDuel but that does not mean I will not be using him on DraftKings. He has been good and they are on home ice taking on the Coyotes. They are not good. Math can be really simple sometimes.

Mikael Backlund (5800/5200) – I will almost never not want to get some piece of the action against Chicago. Tonight is no different. I typically prefer using the Gaudreau line at home, and with this being a road game, I will default to Backlund. It is a nice price for potentially high upside.

Evgeny Kuznestov (7200/6400) – Kuz is a guy who can go off at any time, and I think I could see that happening tonight. Columbus is a team I could easily see giving up some goals tonight and I think Kuz will be a part of the fun.

Wings –

Brock Boeser (6600/7000) – Normally, with Boeser being on the road team, I would suggest that the Panthers are going to work to take his line away. I just do not think they can. I am expecting Boeser to have a huge game here and I think he will be well worth the price tonight.

Artemi Panarin (7300/6300) – I am way more likely to have exposure to Panarin on DraftKings than FanDuel, but does it really matter if you think the production is going to be there? He should have no problem dealing with Washington and I expect to see a big game from him.

Ryan Spooner (4800/4800) – Spooner is not going to be the sexiest name to drop into your lineups tonight, but the price is right. He has been very good as of late, and I like the upside he brings to the table in tournaments. He should be very low owned.

Defensemen –

Brent Burns (7600/7300) – Yes.

Mike Matheson (4200/3900) – Matheson has just been producing a lot as of late. He is getting some chances to shoot and has made the best of them. He is blocking shots and most importantly, he is cheap. I love this play tonight for any number of reasons, and I have a feeling he is going to come through big.

Dougie Hamilton (5500/5200) – Hamilton has some pretty significant home/road splits, and with this being on the road, I want to work to get him into my lineup. He is able to contribute in all levels of the game and I would not hesitate to use him in any format.

Goalies –

Matt Murray (8500/7500) – I think Hellebyuck is going to be very popular, so why not pivot and some some cash? I think Pittsburgh has some areas of concern, but overall, I could see this being a solid tournament play tonight against Vegas.
