NHL DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 1/9/18
Prices listed are FanDuel/DraftKings
Jack Eichel (7400/6700) – Eichel is a hit or miss player, but I do like the home ice advantage he will have. His upside is huge, as he could easily manage multiple points. The price is fair, especially on DraftKings, where I am likely to have more exposure to him.
Vincent Trochek (6200/6000) – I will only look at a few different players from the Panthers, and one of them is Trochek. The Panthers will be headed to take on the Blues in what should be a good situation for him. Again, the price is very nice for him, so I want some exposure
Nick Schmaltz (5200/5300) – Schmaltz has been very hot lately, and this is another good matchup in Ottawa. Chicago has a lot of players that can put the puck in the net, and I think they will a few times tonight. Schmaltz is a great cash game option with upside for tournaments.
Patrik Laine (7700/7200) – I really like the upside for Laine tonight. The Sabres have been very good at giving up goals, and Laine could end up having a huge night here.
Brock Boeser (6700/6200) – The sites have gotten so much quicker at pricing players. Back in the day, Boeser would still probably be a $5k player even after all he has done this year. Washington is not imposing to me, and with his line getting hot again, I want to use him tonight.
Alex Steen (5400/4400) – Speaking of guys who are hot, Steen is riding a nice three game hot streak. He gets the benefit of going against the Panthers, which should be a good thing for him. He is still a better play on DraftKings, but I am fine with him either way.
Erik Karlsson (7000/6400) – If spending up at the position today, I like Karlsson. Not many in the league can put up the kind of numbers he does, and if he was at another position, he would likely be close to $7.5. Chicago is susceptible so I want some exposure here.
Ryan Ellis (4800/4900) – Since coming back from his injury, Ellis has been productive. Nothing has been through the roof, but he has done what we need him to. The matchup against Edmonton is a good one, so I want some exposure to him tonight.
Marco Scandella (3800/3300) – If we want to get some more value in our lineup, I would look to Scandella. On the year, he has been fairly productive but continues to carry a low price. He sees a ton of time on the ice and makes a good option in either format.
Andre Vasilevskiy (9600/8300) – I really do not love anyone at the position tonight, but do not have a problem with Vasilevskiy. He was awful last time out, but I do not think that will keep anyone off of him. The matchup is fair and he should rebound nicely.
