NHL DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 1/15/18
Prices listed are FanDuel/DraftKings
Nathan MacKinnon (8100/7300) – I am a big fan of Colorado and their top line when they are at home. They are tonight. Anaheim is not a team that I fear at all, and I think we could see another big game of MacKinnon. I still do not think players love using him, so he should see lower ownership.
Matthew Barzal (5600/5800) – I would fully expect for Barzal to be highly owned tonight. He has that price and matchup we look for, and it will make him popular. It does not hurt that the kid is talented, either. I do not mind running him naked, either. New York can be tough to pinpoint at times.
Ryan Kesler (5700/4800) – Kesler is in play mostly because of price, and especially his price on DraftKings. He is very talented, and has been pretty solid coming off his injury. I think he probably profiles as a cash game play over tournament, but on a short slate, we cannot be too picky.
Brad Marchand (8000/7400) – Even though it seems like Dallas has been doing better, they did not look like it against the Avalanche. Marchand and company should have a field day here, and even though he is pricey, he is the guy I want to look at the most.
Max Pacioretty (6500/6400) – Pacioretty has made me more money than any other hockey player, and he has a solid matchup to boot. We know the Islanders are a team that will give up goals, and I love Max on home ice. The price is very nice and he is someone I will want to get into my line ups.
Tyler Toffoli (5900/5100) – I will admit I do not love the Kings, but I will still take a run at some of them in tournaments. Toffoli is one of them. His upside is not as much as as the other guys on this list, but in hockey anything can happen. The price is appealing so I will have some exposure.
Jeff Petry (3600/4500) – Well, it is safe to say that my strategy today is going to be with cheap defensemen. Petry has been great, is in a solid matchup and will see a lot of time on the ice. Honestly, that is basically all we are looking for with him. He is valuable in all formats.
Patrik Nemeth (3900/3800) – Nemeth has been a solid producer and always manages to do something to warrant playing him. His price never moves and his ownership is never too high. I will continue to buy in on him until he goes over $5k.
Ryan Pulock (3600/3400) – Here is another cheap defensemen we can use in our lineups. While Nick Leddy gets time with the top power play, Pulock is seeing it with the second unit. He does not see a ton of time, but is being productive with it, which is important. He is probably more of a tournament play than a cash game one.
Anton Khudobin (7700/8100) – I guess of all the goalies, I would be looking at Khudobin first and foremost. I think the Stars could struggle here, and as a result, I do not mind paying the price for him. I think he will be the most popular goalie.
