NHL FanDuel & DraftKings DFS Picks – 2/2/17
Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NHL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!
Prices listed are FD/DK.
Nazem Kadri (6900/6100) – Kadri has a ton of potential in this matchup against the Blues tonight. The price is fair, and the matchup is great. He is capable of putting up a game that would win you a tournament, so make sure you’ve got some exposure in tournaments.
Bryan Little (6500/5600) – Dallas is another team I love to target, and tonight won’t be any different. You never know what you are going to get from the Jets, but they do have some guys who can score some goals, so it’s important to make sure you’ve got at least some exposure on them.
Mika Zibanejad (5800/5900) – The Rangers are typically an excellent team to target, and even though I like using the top line much more, I think you can certainly get the job done with Mika and some other members of the second line. You get a nice discount on them, and they are in a good matchup.
Martin Hanzal (5500/4600) – Typically, it you say that the Blackhawks were playing the Coyotes, you’d think we’d be focusing on the Blackhawks side of the ice, but that’s not the case. I like the upside on the top line for Arizona tonight, with Hanzal being my favorite.
Daniel Sedin (6200/5300) – The Sedin’s are another group of guys who don’t see their way into very many of my lineups, but I like the position they are in tonight at home against the Sharks. I think they will probably be pretty low owned, making them good options in tournaments.
Matt Moulson (4500/3400) – Out of everyone wearing a Buffalo uniform, I would suspect that Moulson will be one of the lowest owned. He isn’t necessarily overly impressive, but his low price, and this being a good opportunity is something that we should pay some attention to. I don’t mind him in tournaments.
Patrick Eaves (5800/5100) – Eaves is always a nice option as he plays on the Stars top line, but isn’t priced like some of their other options. Because of this, he’s a guy you can use in both formats, as it is likely that the Stars will put in some goals tonight.
David Perron (5000/4300) – I feel like the whole wing section tonight is guys that could see low ownership, but have strong price points and matchups. Let’s add Perron to that list. He could end up being a very strong play at this price if this Blues team does what it is supposed to.
Ivan Provorov (4900/4600) – Provorov is the defensemen I would prefer to have tonight on the Flyers, and he is priced pretty reasonably to boot. We’ve see the damage that Montreal has allowed to this position this year, so there is no reason to not want some exposure.
Erik Karlsson (7200/7000) – Karlsson is a great option on most nights, and tonight is no different. The Lightning have been a mess for a lot of the year, going through a lot of different stages of injury. I think Karlsson should be able to eat them alive.
John Klingberg (5900/4800) – Winnipeg is another team that give up a lot of points, so you’ll want to have some exposure to the Stars this evening. The price is right for him, despite the fact he hasn’t been very consistent throughout the year.
Victor Hedman (6700/6000) – Even though the Lightning can give up some points, they can also score them. Hedman is one of my favorite options at the position tonight. He’s got multi point upside, and his price is still workable considering some of the plays offered on this list.
Dallas Goalie – I don’t know when the last time I saw a goalie slate that I hated more than tonight. I think that Dallas has a pretty good shot of beating Winnipeg, and I think Kari Lehtonen can minimize damage. I think that he should be in line for a nice game.
Arizona Goalie – This one is total just gut feeling, but I think that I like Mike Smith tonight. He’s one of those guys that I seem to get right more than wrong, so I’m going to have some of him in my tournament lineups.
