NHL DFS Picks – 12/6/16
Prices listed are FD/DK.
Sean Monahan (6500/5700) – One of the guys I like a lot on tonight’s slate is Sean Monahan, who appears to be centering the second line for Calgary. The Dallas Stars are just so bad defensively that it just makes sense to get at least some exposure to their opponents. Tonight, that will be Calgary. The price is nice on Monahan, and he is worth a look.
Kevin Hayes (5600/5900) – I could see going with Derek Stepan in this matchup against the Islanders, but I will side with Kevin Hayes in hoping that he can get back on track in this plus matchup. The price is nice, especially on FanDuel, and I would have to believe that the Rangers will manage to score some points, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was able to put up a nice stat line.
Aleksander Barkov (6500/5800) – The Flyers have been especially poor this year, and I think a saavy team like the Panthers will manage to put together a pretty nice game on them. The price is excellent especially on DraftKings, and I wouldn’t hesitate to play him in any format tonight.
Mark Scheifele (7900/7300) – Right now Scheifele is considered day to day, but if he is able to go tonight, he is in a great position going against a Red Wings team that is beatable at home. We’ve seen him take a big step ahead this year, and I would fully expect for him to have a nice game if he is able to make it.
Kevin Fiala (3600/4000) – I will admit to not knowing a ton about this guy, but he’s produced at the AHL level, and while that doesn’t guarantee translation into NHL production, it does give us hope. More than anything, Filip Forsberg just has not looked very good this year, and in Fiala’s first few games back, he has looked better. He’s cheap and playing top six minutes, so if you are looking for a tournament filler, here is your punt.
Artemi Panarin (7200/7100) – I always love to target Arizona on the road, but tonight they will be facing off with a team that I have not been able to ready properly at all this year, the Chicago Blackhawks. Panarin is in a good position here, but every time I feel like I write up one of the Blackhawks, they fall on their faces, so I am a little bit reserved, but I think he’ll do fine.
Michael Cammalleri (5500/5500) – The Devils are another team in a every good matchup, at home against punching bag Vancouver Canucks. Cammalleri is underpriced in this contest, and I could see him being a difference maker tonight in lineups. I would not hesitate using him in either format, and wouldn’t be shocked if he was one of the highest scoring players on the evening.
Kyle Okposo (6100/6200) – Okposo is really up and down, and is probably best reserved for tournaments, but I would say that I think he’s in a great position at home against Edmonton tonight. The price is fair, and I think Okposo could easily hit value and should be a threat to be involved in the scoring tonight.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson (6000/5100) – I can’t say that I’m absolutely in love with any of the options on the defensive side of things, so I’m willing to take some chances. The start of the year hasn’t exactly been great for OEL, but a matchup with Chicago could turn that around. His price is awesome on DraftKings especially.
Damon Severson (4300/4200) – I think you could swing it with a number of defensive options, but I will be willing to go with Severson as a result of the fact that he does get power play time, which is something I like to see. The price is very, very good, and I could definitely see him being well worth the price tonight.
Alex Pietrangelo (5400/5400) – I had to giggle a little last week when Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk were priced similarly. I had just enough to roll with either, but I thought Pietrangelo was a little more consistent. I then sat back and watched Shattenkirk have a 40+ point game on a night where most of the chalk fell apart and the rest of my lineup hit. It is what it is. I’m back with him tonight and I want to give him a look in this contest against Montreal.
Dustin Byfuglien (6600/6000) – Byfuglien is rarely someone who makes my breakdown or lineup for one reason for another, but tonight, I’ll give him a shot in a plus matchup against Detroit. The price is a little more than I like to spend but I’ll probably give him a look in at least a few lineups tonight.
Nashville Goalie – The Avalanche have been slipping a lot lately, and things wont get any better as they coast into Nashville on fumes. It’s highly likely that we will see Pekka Rinne in the net tonight, and I believe he is in line for a new game and most likely a win.
New Jersey Goalie – Corey Schneider will be in the net, but he hasn’t been very good. I personally won’t be using him anywhere near my cash games, but this is a good matchup and he is on his home ice, so I think he is usable for tournaments.
