NBA DFS Picks – 12/12/16

We are back with another NHL DFS Breakdown. Tuesday will afford us a big ten game slate, which is the best kind of slate for hockey, in my opinion. There are a number of good plays here, but there are enough options out there that lineups should be pretty different, which is always a good thing for both cash games and tournaments. These picks should help you fill in your lines for either formats tonight.

Prices listed are FD/DK.

Jeff Carter (7300/6800) – As crazy as it might sound, players from the Kings very, very rarely make it into our breakdowns. Going up against Buffalo, though, is as good of a recipe as any to put a player into focus. Jeff Carter has been good on the season, as well as lately, and even though he carries a pretty heft price tag, I do think he makes for an excellent play in either format tonight.

Ryan Kesler (7000/6900) – I would expect to see a lot of scoring in this game tonight between the Ducks and the Stars, and I think a lot of it will be on the side of the Ducks. While the first line is worth a look as well, I really like the upside for the second line tonight. You get a small discount on him in comparison to Getzlaf, so I would gladly take it and move on to the next position.

Eric Staal (5600/6400) – I love picking on Arizona on the road, even if that means grabbing some players from the Wild. I shouldn’t be so hard on them, because they are still doing well enough this season. Staal is price very low for someone who has this type of upside, and he makes a nice play in both formats tonight.

Henrik Zetterberg (6200/5900) – Zetterberg is another guy that I don’t love playing, but when the matchup calls for it, that’s what you have to do. His price is very attractive, and I think he’s in a good position to add to his assist total tonight. He is easy to fit into any lineup and I think he’ll make it worth your while for taking the plunge.

Wings –

Robby Fabbri (5100/4700) – Nashville is having a tough time this year, making the Blues a nice team to jump on tonight. Robby Fabbri is developing into a nice player in his second year in the league, and I could see him adding to his totals tonight. The price is very good tonight, and I think he should slot into your lineups well this evening.

Kevin Labanc (3300/3300) – Labanc is in a really good position right now, getting top six ice time and barely costing you over minimum price. He’s hit mid-teens in points in 3/5 of his last games, and at this price, and in this matchup against Toronto, I am definitely willing to roll the dice to allow me to build my lineups up elsewhere.

Cam Atkinson (6900/7200) – The Blue Jackets should be an exciting team to roster tonight going up against the defensively challenged Edmonton Oilers. Yes, it would be nice if this game was being played on their home ice, but we’ll take what we are given. The price is excellent for a guy who very well could have a multi-point game tonight.

Sebastian Aho (4300/4200) – Since we’ve mentioned some high end plays, we’ll try to balance it out with some cheaper plays as well. Aho should be in a good position as the Hurricanes take on the Canucks on home ice. This should be a great opportunity for Aho to keep his good play going. He’s another guy who could make it worth your while to take the risk with him tonight.

Defensemen –

John Carlson (5800/5900) – The Islanders have been the worst team in the NHL over the last month at defending the defensemen position, and tonight should provide them with another opportunity to put together a nice game. Carlson has a good floor and nice upside in this contest and is someone you’ll want on your team tonight.

Alec Martinez (4600/5100) – Martinez will be taking on the Buffalo Sabres tonight, making him an excellent option tonight. I like him a bit more than Drew Doughty because of the price, but I also think he’s got pretty good upside as well. I’ll have ownership of him scattered throughout my lineups tonight.

Ryan McDonagh (5400/5300) – McDonagh has been pretty consistent this year himself, and gets the benefit of taking on a Blackhawks team that still has a hard time keeping pucks out of the net. His price is still very reasonable, and while I don’t think he has some of the upside of other players at the position tonight, I do think he has a pretty safe floor.

Jacob Slavin (3500/3900) – I want some more exposure to Carolina, but Justin Faulk has been far from anything special this year. Slavin has actually put together some nice games lately, and I think he’s a great pivot from Faulk at the position if you want to play the matchups. The price will give you freedom to stack elsewhere and I think he’ll put together a nice game to boot.

Goalies –

Minnesota Goalie – Florida has a lot of skaters that typically make it into my lineups, but tonight they will be put on ice as they roll into Minnesota to take on the Wild. Devan Dubnyk has just been way too good, and until the wheels fall off, I am going to continue to use him in a lot of my lineups.

Carolina Goalie – Picking on Vancouver is not just going to be a theme with me this year, but many others as well. The team is just not very good. Cam Ward has been pretty good this year, and comes in at a fair price, so if he is the one tending the net, he makes for a really nice play.
