NHL DFS Picks – 11/17/16
Prices listed are FD/DK.
Tyler Seguin (7200/7700) – Up until the last game where he failed to do anything worth mentioning, Seguin had been on quite a roll. I think he could pick that up here against Colorado on his home ice. I could certainly see a situation where he has another dominant outing, and if that is the case, I think he could be the make or break point between cashing and cashing big.
Claude Giroux (7000/6900) – I really had a lot of faith in the Flyers the other night against the Senators and they disappointed in a big way. Amongst the most disappointing of these players was Claude Giroux. It feels crazy to say right now, but I think I’d be pretty happy to play him in my cash games, but not in my tournaments. He just hasn’t shown any kind of upside! I know it’s hard to do, but having only 2 multi-point games on the year isn’t exactly what you want out of a tournament play. Still, I think for my cash games, I’d use him, as I think it is likely that he could end up with at least one goal or assist.
Kyle Turris (5300/5700) – I think there is a lot of upside tonight for this Ottawa team on home ice against a Nashville team that we have seen give up some goals this year. Turris has been one of the better and more consistent options on this team, and I think if there was someone who was likely to contribute in a big way, I’d probably look in Turris’ direction.
Henrik Sedin (4700/4500) – Sigh. I want to believe that the Sedin’s won’t look like this all year, but forgive me if I am starting to lose hope. Still, a home matchup against the Coyotes should be enough to snap them out of their funk, even if it is only for one game. This is a very good price to pay for Henrik, and much like Giroux, I think I’d stick to him in just cash games.
Nikita Kucherov (7600/7200) – It’s unfortunate that Steven Stamkos is going to miss a significant amount of time with injury, but in his place, I would have to imagine that Kucherov will have to step up and take more of the scoring load on his shoulders. He is certainly capable of that, and I think it is likely that we will see him do some damage against Buffalo tonight.
James Neal (7200/6200) – Neal is one of the streakier players in all of hockey, and right now he is running hot. While he is running hot, we should probably play him, and play him a lot. Ottawa is a team that he should certainly be able to find some openings against, and I like his upside of hitting another goal tonight.
Mitchell Marner (5500/5900) – Honestly, I don’t know many people who thought Toronto would be able improve this much, at least offensively, this quickly. They have been something to watch, and Florida isn’t exactly a team that I would look to stop their roll. Marner’s price is very affordable, and there is little reason to not look his way tonight.
Patrick Eaves (5200/5200) – Eaves has been really good as of late, and I am one who doesn’t really have too much of a problem with riding the hot hand. He makes a nice play alongside of Seguin,as they both now reside on the second line. He’s a great cash game play that also has some upside for tournaments tonight.
Erik Karlsson (7200/7300) – Karlsson was another one of our top plays last time out, and he surely didn’t disappoint. This is another positive matchup against Nashville, in what lines up to be a pretty high scoring game. I think that there has been enough value listed here that you can fit him in to your lineups and have a nice team around him.
Patrick Wiercloch (3900/3700) – I think if you’ve been playing NHL DFS for the last few years, you’ll know about Dallas’ shortcomings against defenders and how badly they can get smoked by them. I am going for what I think is a nice value option for Colorado in what I think could end up being a nice night for him.
Drew Doughty (5600/5100) – Edmonton is a sieve, and I especially like attacking them on the road. I also like how this sets up tonight, as we get to use some players from the late game, which always seem to see lower ownership. I’ll gladly take my chances with someone like Doughty who is due for a big game or two.
Michael Del Zotto (4300/4300) – For the price, Del Zotto may be one of the top options on defense. Again, this comes down to playing someone who has been playing well, and the matchup doesn’t hurt either. He isn’t getting power play time, but he’s doing enough to put up good scores at even strength.
Dallas Goalie – I think this is how I am going to start doing this from now on. I must say, I can make a case for most of the goalies on this slate getting destroyed, so that is never good. I think I like the spot for this Dallas team, and since we have no choice but to play a goalie, whoever plays from Dallas would make the top of my list.
Anaheim Goalie – I think outside of Dallas, I would consider whoever minds the net for the Ducks against the visiting Devils. This is a situation where you could get a goalie at a reasonable price, and I think I can see the Ducks out scoring the Devils.
