NHL DFS Picks – 11/15/16

I don’t know how I missed this slate. I saw that there was a Monday-Tuesday slate, so I assumed it must have been a very small slate – welp, I was wrong! This looks like it should be a very fun slate with a lot of good matchups to be taken advantage of. FanDuel is hosting a $25 $75k Super Goal with first place winning $15k, so make sure to throw some entries into that.

Prices listed are FD/DK.

Kyle Turris (5200/5600) – When I look through the matchups for tonight, I see a lot of plays that I could consider value plays on this slate. The first one that sticks out to me is Kyle Turris, who will be taking on the Philadelphia Flyers. Though he skates on the top line, the Flyers are poor enough that even on the road, Turris should see plenty of opportunities to take shots or help out. I think that he could produce enough that would make him worth a spot on your roster tonight.

Eric Staal (5900/5600) – Calgary is much worse on the road than at home, and they give up a ton of points. Staal has been very good this year, and this is an ideal matchup for him on home ice. He sees time on the power play as well, which the Flames haven’t exactly been too great at stopping that this year either. He makes a great play in either format tonight.

Derek Stepan (5500/5800) – Vancouver is another team that has been beaten up pretty badly in the early going this season. I suspect the Rangers should be able to do some damage here, and I think the second line are likely to be the culprits. Stepan also sees time on the power play, where I could also see him having success tonight. He makes another great play in this $5-6k value range tonight.

Steven Stamkos (8400/8100) – If you feel like you need to spend up somewhere at center, I like Stamkos’ upside on the road against Detroit. There isn’t too much that really needs to be said about him other than he could end up with a ton of points and help you get to the cash just as good as anyone else. He’ll cost you, but I think there is a chance he could certainly come through for you.

Taylor Hall (7000/6800) – Taylor Hall is playing fantastic hockey right now, and the Dallas Stars are getting pounded on a routine basis. This sets up very well for him. Again, this is on the road, and while we would prefer that this game was on his home ice, we can deal with the fact that he is playing a bad team. I think he should have lots of opportunities at even strength and the man advantage.

Brandon Saad (6600/5200) – There is a huge pricing discrepancy between DraftKings and FanDuel, so he is far more in play on DK than FD. The Capitals haven’t been great at keeping the puck out of the net, which is saying something with someone like Braden Holtby in the net. I think the Blue Jackets could find some success tonight.

Corey Perry (7000/7200) – Corey Perry is my favorite player tonight. Truthfully, he hasn’t been very good this year, at least in my opinion, but it’s coming. I’ll gladly take the risk tonight against a poor Edmonton team on home ice. I could see Perry finally having a big multi-point game, and I’m hoping that he ends up as the highest scoring player on the slate.

Vladimir Tarasenko (8400/77000) – Tarasenko is another one of my favorites tonight. He’s been really up and down this year, but he has some of the best upside on the slate. The Sabres have been a little better than in years past about keeping the puck out of the net, but I think Tarasenko should be able to do what he does to put points up on the board tonight.

Defensemen –

Roman Josi (6500/6200) – Toronto has shown some promise this year with the emergence of their younger players, but they are still an easy team to pick on. There are a few different blueliners I could consider here, but I think I like Josi the most. His price is up there, but I could certainly see him crossing the 20-point mark tonight, which is something that a lot of guys at this position can’t do.

Erik Karlsson (7200/7100) – I do think it is a worthwhile plan tonight to attack the Flyers, even at home. Karlsson is another one of those defensive players that could end up with a huge score. He does a little bit of everything, and he can score. He’s actually quite good at it. It wouldn’t surprise me if he blew up tonight, and will likely carry higher ownership behind him.

Rasmus Ristolainen (4800/5600) – It always feels weird to play guys against the Blues, but they just haven’t had good goalie play thus far. I would consider Rasmus here, especially on FanDuel where he is certainly a discount. He should see time on the top power play line, and I think he will be able to put together a pretty nice game for himself tonight at a great price.

Keith Yandle (5300/4900) – Montreal is another team that is getting had by defensemen, and Yandle has been pretty good thus far this year. He’s priced very reasonably, especially on DraftKings, so I think you should give him some consideration tonight. I think it will be pretty interesting constructing lineups between sites tonight with all the differences in price.

Goalies –

Pekka Rinne (9200/7400) – Typically, I like to find goalies on home ice, but I really don’t have any outside of maybe Devan Dubnyk that I really like. As a result, I’ll look toward someone like Rinne who has been trending upward lately in a favorable road matchup against the Maple Leafs. He’s dirt cheap on DraftKings, but I’d still take a look at him on FanDuel as well.

Craig Anderson (9000/7300) – Anderson is another road goalie I would look at, in a bit of a riskier position against the Flyers. He has been outstanding on the year, so it is less about matchup and more about how he has been playing. I also think that Ottawa should be able to produce today, which means I think he’s likely to get a win.
