NBA DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 1/8/18

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NBA Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Pricing is FanDuel/DraftKings

Kris Dunn (7500/6800) – Turns out, Kris Dunn is pretty good. This is the guy I thought we were going to get last year. We had to wait a year, but it is worth it. Houston, being down Harden, is relying on Chris Paul more offensively, so his defense slips a bit. Dunn should have every opportunity for a big game tonight.

Lou Williams (8300/7900) – This is revenge game narrative for Lou. Just kidding, he has played for too many teams, and it would be very hard for all of them to have that narrative. We know that Atlanta is horrible at just about everything, so this is a matchup I would look to exploit with Blake Griffin likely out again.

Ish Smith (6500/5700) – Ish has not been an overly high contributor since entering the starting lineup, but he has not been awful, either. That reflection is based off a point per dollar production take. The Pelicans are going to be beat at the guard position, and I think how Ish plays greatly benefits him here.

Karl-Anthony Towns (9600/9200) – This is a very good matchup for Towns. First, he is taking on a Cavs team that has no one to match on him. Second, the Cavs do not travel well. Third, Towns seems to be a bit of a better player at home. This is a great spot for hi to do some damage.

Draymond Green (8300/8000) – I feel like Draymond has good games regularly against the Nuggets and the Lakers. I could be wrong, though. Nonetheless, the matchup for him against any combination of Mason Plumlee, Nikola Jokic, Wilson Chandler and Trey Lyles is going to benefit him heavily. I think we could see another triple-double tonight.

Nikola Mirotic (6500/5600) – I like the fact that we are going to see the discount on Mirotic on DraftKings after a horrible game the last time the Bulls played. They were awful. Houston is a great on paper team, but without Harden, they are letting teams stay in the game. I will likely go with a lot of Dunn/Mirotic stacks and based off my fortunes lately, you should probably stay far, far away.
