NBA DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 1/31/18

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NBA Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Pricing is FanDuel/DraftKings

Jordan Clarkson (6600/7000) – Clarkson sees his price drop after two down games, but this is a really good matchup for him tonight. Orlando is awful on the defensive side of things, so I think we could see a big night out of him. He will probably see high ownership with Ball out, but he should be worth it.

Dennis Smith Jr. (6800/6800) – Smith Jr. is finally coming into his own and I think he is going to have a monster second half of the season. He gets a great up pace matchup against the Suns, making him viable in all formats. I think he will crack 40 fantasy points tonight, making him a great point per dollar play.

Trey Burke (3600/3700) – Burke has been a pretty good fine here. He was expected to be a good pro, and it never materialized. Injuries did play into things some, but now he is making the most out of his new opportunity. I think he should be able to exceed value tonight.

Joel Embiid (10500/10400) – It seems hard to look passed Embiid tonight in a matchup that he could put up 60 points in. The Nets are bad defensively, and really struggle with talent big men. Well, that is Embiid to a tee, so I expect big, big things from The Process tonight.

Nicolas Batum (5800/6200) – Batum has been playing much, much better as of late. He will take on an Atlanta team that is just so bad. He should have ample opportunities to contribute in all 5 categories and it would not shock me if he put together a monster of a game tonight.

Ed Davis (4900/4600) – Davis has been very, very good lately and gets to take on the Bulls. He should be able to exceed value rather easily, and has the upside for more as well. I will be using him in both cash games and tournaments tonight.
