NBA DFS Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 1/25/18

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NBA Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Pricing is FanDuel/DraftKings

GUARDS:

Russell Westbrook (11900/11400) – I typically do not love putting someone like Westbrook here unless they are on some kind of a tear. On a short slate, though, I think putting Westbrook here makes a lot of sense because he has the highest upside. The Wizards have been easy to beat up on as of late, so I think it makes sense to get exposure to Westbrook in this one.

Jamal Murray (7500/6700) – It has been amazing to see what Murray has been able to do as of late. I doubt it is going to stop against a team like the Knicks. Murray has upside that no one else on the slate at his price has. It is a pretty simple choice for me to just drop him in and move on.

Vince Carter (4200/3500) – Like it or not, Carter is kind of a low end DFS option on a slate like this. I am fine with using Carter with a 16-20 point floor and 30 point ceiling. Is the ceiling likely? Probably not, but as long as he is the glue that holds my high dollar guys together, I am going to be using him.

FORWARDS/CENTERS:

Nikola Jokic (9700/8900) – Jokic is the other Nugget I am really interested in using. He typically does a little better at home and I am not afraid of the Knicks front court. His price on DraftKings is reasonable for his upside and that is what I am buying in to tonight.

Willie Cauley-Stein (7500/6500) – WCS is basically the only worthwhile option from a DFS perspective on this team. At the very least, he is the most consistent. Whiteside is known for being a little lax on defense, and that is something I think Willie will look to exploit. He makes a great play in all formats tonight.

Kelly Olynyk (4600/4600) – On a slate like this we need to take some unusual routes and for me, that is Olynyk. He has enough upside, as his price is relatively low. The Kings are also not a sound defensive basketball team. I think we will see Olynyk flirt with 30 fantasy points tonight, making him a solid buy tonight.
