Welcome back to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NBA Breakdown. Tonight, we get a 10 game slate with some good games slated to take place.

The first games that jump out at me are HOU/BOS, MIN/OKC, NO/MEM, ORL/SAC and POR/GS. Those should all be very high scoring games, and if they are not, they feature a lot of value options. We already know Conley, Cousins and Payton are out, and I’m sure that there are more on the way.

On to my favorites!

POINT GUARD:

Damian Lillard – I love this matchup for both Steph and Lillard tonight, and with how Lillard has been playing lately, I think I would prefer to take the discount tonight and go with him. He has been terrific against the Warriors this year, and I expect him to bring his A game to go at Steph tonight.

Isaiah Thomas – One option that typically goes under the radar, and likely will tonight with most of the studs playing, and good potential value plays, is Isaiah Thomas. Thomas is playing against the Rockets, and we know how they love to give up fantasy points. Isaiah can drop a 50 bomb from time to time, and this matchup presents a good opportunity for him.

Toney Douglas – It is never easy to want to go a route like this, but Douglas was good in the last game against Sacramento with Norris Cole out. Tonight, the Pelicans are taking on the Grizzlies, and quite frankly, Memphis is so injury ridden that you can’t be concerned about their ability to defend, which has slipped this year. Douglas will likely be paying against a combination of Lance Stephenson and a rookie from the D-League, so the opportunity is there for him to have a good night. If you don’t want to go Douglas, CJ Watson should start for Orlando in a good matchup against the Kings.

SHOOTING GUARD:

Victor Oladpio – Anytime James Harden is on the slate, you have to give him consideration. Tonight though, I will take Oladipo against the Kings backcourt. In case you are new to daily fantasy, the Kings are notoriously horrible at guarding the two guard position. Oladipo could also see some more time tonight with Payton out, making him a great play for the price.

Lance Stephenson – Lance is going to be a popular option tonight with Chalmers and Conley out, and with good reason. He is cheap, and possesses good upside for his price. New Orleans is just an awful defensive basketball team, and Stephenson should be able to exploit that tonight.

E’Twaun Moore – With Butler out, Moore is a great play. Anyone who puts up a good outing, both in fantasy and real life, against the Spurs has my respect, and Moore did that just last night. Shooting guard could be a good position to go cheap at tonight, and Moore would be one of the best options in that range.

SMALL FORWARD:

Kevin Durant – Any time Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are on the slate, it makes sense to take a look at them. Yes, they do have to do an awful lot to make value, but they have become experts at doing just that. The Timberwolves are not threatening at all, and Durant and Westbrook can do enough damage in 3 quarters to make value.

Rudy Gay – No one in the Kings offense from DeMarcus Cousins not playing than Rudy Gay. Without Cousins on the floor, Gay is option A for the offense. The Magic don’t guard small forwards well, and with the workload Gay should receive will give him a good chance of exceeding value.

Vince Carter – What year is it? Vince Carter believes it is 2002. He has been amazing over the last several games, and it doesn’t appear as if that will let up tonight. The Pelicans provide a great chance for another good game from Carter, and his price is very fair.

POWER FORWARD:

Anthony Davis – Happy birthday to the Brow! Tonight, you get to play a Memphis team that has no one that can possibly come close to defending you. I think he should see another 50 point game, and is in good position to return even higher value than that if he really gets going.

Aaron Gordon – With both Vucevic and Payton out, one would assume the value of Oladipo, Fournier and Gordon would go up. Gordon had a very bad game his last time out, and the hopes would be that it affects his ownership level. I won’t hesitate playing the talented big man against a Cousin-less Kings squad.

Willie Cauley-Stein – Well, no more cheap JaMychal Green. It was fun while it lasted, and I’m not paying almost 7k for him. Davis could have him in foul trouble quickly. With Cousins out, you would think that Karl would look to his rookie to shoulder more of the load. WCS did have some harsh words for Karl after getting taken out of the last game, so tonight could be a repayment for him.

CENTERS:

Karl-Anthony Towns – Towns has been just amazing this year. It makes me upset to think that there is only 5 weeks of the regular season left. Tonight, he gets to face off against OKC who haven’t been defending the center position well at all. Let’s face it though, it doesn’t matter. He’s a top option every slate.

Brook Lopez – Lopez came out of his slumber last time out, and tonight gets another plus matchup against the Sixers. They haven’t been able to stop anyone over the last few years, and I just don’t see anyone that is really threatening to Brook in this game.

Kosta Koufos – He is minimum price is most places, and shouldn’t carry that much risk. I remember a time when Marc Gasol was out that Koufus could start and threaten for 40 points. Now, I don’t think that is likely tonight, but he should still be good to exceed value and let you spend up elsewhere.

Good luck to everyone! Let’s all win some cash!
