MLB DFS Picks – 9/22/16

Welcome to our MLB Daily Fantasy Breakdown! Today, we have a nice slate of Thursday baseball.

We’ve got a long day of baseball ahead of us, so it should be fun. As usual, we have a variety of pitching options that we can choose at all levels, and a nice amount that we can target as well. This should make tournaments fun and diverse. I like what I saw as I started out my research today, and am looking forward to building some cash winning lineups! Let’s make tonight a good one, as there are a number of great contests that are being offered on FanDuel. If you don’t have an account, use our link to sign up for FanDuel.

Today, we will break everything down position by position. With that out of the way, let’s move on to the picks:

DAVID PRICE – Price had been on a roll for quite some time before running into the Yankees last week. I think he is still the top overall pitching option on this slate, as he possesses high strikeout upside, and this Orioles team can definitely whiff with the best of them. He should be worth every penny today.

JUSTIN VERLANDER– If you want to save a couple hundred dollars tonight, you could drop down to Verlander, who is in a really good matchup as well today against the Twins. He’s really bounced back this year after a few down years, and I think we’ll see him finish his season off strong.

SETH LUGO – If I am looking for some value on the slate at the pitching position, I like Lugo tonight against the Phillies. He has shown that he has some upside and we know the Phillies do have some struggles against right-handed pitching.

BUSTER POSEY – Posey is always on our radar, but I do feel much more comfortable rolling him out in tournaments than cash games. He should have no problem against Christian Freidrich tonight.

SALVADOR PEREZ – Perez hasn’t been very sharp at all this year, but definitely does carry some high upside tonight against Mike Clevinger. He is definitely capable of putting up monster games, so I think you’ll want him in your lineups.

DAVID ORTIZ – Ortiz is on the last leg of his retirement tour, and it will be sad to see baseball next year without Papi. Chris Tillman has been fairly decent this year, but he is still not going to be able to stand up against Ortiz. He’s my top play today.

C.J. CRON – Cron makes an excellent play tonight against Mike Fiers. We’ve seen some pretty big games out of Cron this year, despite dealing with several injuries. He’s got the power to put big games up and I like his chances here.

JOSE ALTUVE – Ricky Nolasco is definitely a pitcher I have no issue picking on, and Altuve is one of the best hitters in all of baseball, so this matchup makes a ton of sense. He’s not terribly expensive so I think you can work him in.

ADAM ROSALES – Typically, I would only be talking Rosales up if he was going up against left-handed pitching, but I actually don’t hate him in tournaments tonight. You can guarantee that he will have low ownership and Jeff Samardzija is hittable, so I can see him having a nice outing.

NOLAN ARENADO – I am always on board with using Arenado when he is under $4k and tonight against Brett Anderson is a great opportunity to do so. He’s having another monster year, and could very well end up with his 40th home run in this game.

JUNG HO KANG – Kang is an appealing tournament option today against Chase Anderson who has given up some pretty big games this year. He’s priced just $100 under Arenado, so I imagine that many will just spend that extra $100 keeping Kang at lower ownership.

ASDRUBAL CABRERA – Adam Morgan is on the mound for the Phillies tonight, and that means we should get some Mets in our lineups. Cabrera has shown that he has a nice floor and pretty good upside again and again, so I won’t hesitate using him tonight.

CARLOS CORREA – Just like Altuve, Correa makes an excellent option tonight against Ricky Nolasco. It’s been a pretty good sophomore campaign for Correa, and I think he could be in for a good outing tonight.

YOENIS CESPEDES – Cespedes is very consistent, but in his consistency lies some pretty good upside as well. For me, the price is just too low for what he brings to the table, and I will have a lot of him in my lineups.

MIKE TROUT – Trout is the most expensive outfielder today, as it appears FanDuel is relaxing their salary quite a bit. Mike Fiers is hittable and I think we will see Trout put together a nice game tonight.

CHRISTIAN YELICH – Yelich is another guy that I really like for my cash games, despite that his price has come up just a bit. Josh Collmenter is not going to be able to get around Yelich, and while he may not put up a huge outing, he should be able to make value.

CHARLIE BLACKMON– Blackmon’s been putting up absolutely monster games as of late, and he is someone that you need to have in your lineups. Of course we would rather see him at Coors, but nonetheless, he should manage to put up a big game.

BRANDON GUYER – Guyer is in play every time he goes up against a left-handed pitcher, and with Jason Vargas on the mound, we absolutely have to consider him for our lineups tonight. He;’s priced fairly and he should be able to put some points up.
