Welcome to our MLB Daily Fantasy Breakdown! Today, we have a massive 9 game slate awaiting us, which should lead to some fun combinations and a whole lot of different lineups.

Opening Day was not overly kind to me, as many of my favorites just fizzled at the plate, or at least didn’t produce what I thought [re:Reds]. Today is a new day, so we hope to make tonight the best of the year [won’t be hard].

With that out of the way, lets move on to the picks:

Jon Lester – I certainly don’t like today’s pitchers as much as yesterdays, but you play what you are given. Lester plays an Angels team that was dominated by his teammate Jake Arrieta yesterday, and the situation lines up well for Lester tonight. He is the most expensive option on the board, but also most likely to put up a big number.

Scott Kazmir- The Dodgers are likely to put a hurting on the Padres again tonight, so I would not be surprised to see an easy 12 points on FanDuel for Kazmir. I don’t love his upside otherwise, but I think he could come up with a 35 point outing.

Aaron Sanchez – If you want to go cheap, I think Sanchez is a good bet. Look, the Rays just aren’t a great team. Stroman dominated them on Sunday, and Dickey looked good for the most part yesterday. That’s saying something. I think he makes a great low dollar play if you want to spend up at other positions.

James McCann – I am most likely saving at catcher, and I really like McCann tonight against Chen. I think Chen will have a good year, but I do not think it will start tonight with the Yankees. With a smaller field now in Miami, I think there’s a big reason to look at Tigers today.

Francisco Cervelli – I went with Cervelli on Sunday and wasn’t disappointed. Assuming he gets the nod tonight, I like him to have a good outing against Wacha. He is priced fairly, and I really like his potential for a good outing tonight.

Miguel Cabrera – I love this matchup here for Cabrera and will likely be spending up big time for him tonight. He has a great chance to knock Chen around the park, and I think with other top tier first basemen playing bad pitchers he will be lower owned than he should be.

Brandon Belt – Belt tends to be a streaky hitter, and he gets another poor pitcher tonight in Jimmy Nelson. Things may turn out fine for Nelson throughout the year, but I don’t expect it to happen tonight with the Giants.

Rougned Odor – I really like this game tonight, as it could certainly be the highest scoring game of the night. I think Odor has huge upside in this game, and is going to be in my cash game lineups no questions asked. He can rack up fantasy points quickly, so I want to have him on my team.

Joe Panik –Panik gave his owners a scare in yesterday’s game, rendering himself basically useless until coming in with a late inning solo shot. He gets another chance to prove his worth against Jimmy Nelson tonight, and should be on your radar.

Kris Bryant – I wouldn’t blame you for going with any of the high priced third base options, but Bryant is my favorite. I think Heaney will be a good pitcher this year, but I think Bryant will absolutely dominate him tonight.

Danny Valencia – Valencia finds himself in a similar situation: facing a poor lefty. He has great splits against lefties, and I think he will take Quintana deep tonight, and has upside for a big game at a very low price.

Corey Seager – Seager certainly made a good first impression in his first professional game yesterday night, coming in with a double 2 RBI’s and a run. The matchup is good yet again against James Shields, and while his price is higher than I would like, he is a good bet for a nice game tonight.

Trevor Story – Story looked better than almost any other player on the slate late night. In his first pro game, he we two for six with 2 HR’s, 2 R’s and 4 RBI’s. I’m just going to say I’m not expecting that again, but he is very cheap and is a good bet for double digit points again.

Giancarlo Stanton – Perhaps I just like to play Stanton, but I love taking big named guys in fair matchups on Opening Day, which it is for the Tigers and Marlins. I think he will knock one out of the park tonight, and even if that is it, will help your lineup head to the top.

Nelson Cruz – I ran with Cruz yesterday and got hit basically with a dud. That’s OK, because the matchup today is even better than the matchup yesterday. Cruz has multi HR upside, and if he is successful with that, will separate you from the pack.

Denard Span – Span kicked off his 2016 campaign with a monster outing, including a homerun, 5 RBI’s and 2 runs. Not a bad day in the office. He gets another ideal matchup against Jimmy Nelson tonight, in a game he should dominate. While you cannot expect what happened yesterday, he should still be a pretty good bet for a strong outing.

J.D Martinez – I don’t think there is one player I like more than Martinez on today’s slate. He has everything you want in a player, including a great matchup against Chen tonight. I’m expecting a big outing from him tonight, and I will have a very high ownership of him.

David Peralta– If JD Martinez is my option A, then Peralta is my option B. He gets a strong matchup against Chad Bettis, who is a fair pitcher, but will not be able to keep Peralta from producing tonight. He is at a nice discount tonight, so don’t hesitate to get him in your lineups.
