CFL DFS Picks for DraftKings – 2017 Week 12
Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s CFL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!
With the NFL season starting this week, we are seeing the size of CFL contests drop a little more again this week. They are still worth playing, so we will keep churning out the articles.
Matt Nichols – Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Saskatchewan RoughRiders – $10300
Last week did not go as planned with Nichols. If I have learned one thing this year with the CFL, it is that home/road seems to matter a lot. With the BlueBombers back at home this week, I have no doubt that Nichols will end up being one of the highest scoring quarterbacks at the position. His favorite target is back to full health, and with this being the case, I fully expect Nichols to put up a huge score.
Jeremiah Johnson – BC Lions vs. Montreal Alouettes – $7400
The Alouettes look awful right now, and I expect the Lions to have this game in hand this week. That should mean we will see plenty of Jeremiah Johnson. He has been solid all year, and there is no reason not to believe he will be a monster this week. He is a great pivot off of Andrew Harris, though I think he will have a big game as well.
Kienan Lafrance – Saskatchewan RoughRiders @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers – $4400
The RoughRiders lost their starting running back Cameron Marshall last week, so it will be full steam ahead with Lafrance this week. I do expect the RoughRiders offense to struggle somewhat, but he should still see plenty of activity to justify his price point this week. With that being the case, it is very difficult to not look his way in all formats.
Weston Dressler – Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Saskatchewan RoughRiders – $7100
Dressler returned from injury last week and showed simply no signs of rust. While the offense just could not get going, Dressler still managed six receptions for over 60 yards. This week, I expect that number to as much as double on both ends. I think Nichols will work Dressler into the game early and often, and it will result in Dressler having a huge score. The price is way too cheap.
Diontae Spencer – Ottawa REDBLACKS vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats – $7400
I mentioned this last week and I will say it again this week: Trevor Harris is making a strong effort to get Spencer involved in the passing game. It has worked with great success thus far. This is the best matchup on the board this week, and I personally expect Spencer to break off at least one long catch. He has the upside because he also returns punts and kicks, making him on of my favorites this week.
Bakari Grant – Saskatchewan RoughRiders @ Winnipeg BlueBombers – $6400
Grant is the often forgotten receiving option on the RoughRiders, which is not hard to do with Namaan Roosevelt and Duron Carter on the team. Though I mentioned that I expect the Riders struggle, I think he will be the one guy who ends up paying off. Glenn was looking his way a lot last week, and there is no reason we won’t see that happen against this week.
