CFL DFS Picks for DraftKings – 2017 Week 10
Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s CFL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!
If week 9 of the CFL season taught us anything, it is that one player can make a dramatic difference in a game, as well as with tournament results. The inclusion of Ricky Ray into the lineup turned the Argonauts back into a top tier offense.
This week will be very interesting to say the least. We have seen some prices come up which should level out how lineups will have to be built.
Jonathon Jennings – BC Lions @ Ottawa REDBLACKS – $9300
WHAT? A quarterback not named Mike Reilly? I know. It seems so foolish to consider this week. It is not the fact that I dislike Reilly, though I think we all have to admit that sooner or later he is going to come crashing down, and when he does, he is going to take 50% of the field down with him. I think we saw a bit of that last week, in a situation where he should have been 70%+ owned and he came in at 45% in the $4 tournament. People are expecting the fall. To the contrary, I am just someone who believes that Jennings might be able to right things this week. Against a tough Calgary defense, Jennings looked at least decent last week. His fantasy score we actually a vast improvement on anything we have seen. He will be taking on an Ottawa defense that is not good against the pass, and as we saw, Jennings still has that upside with his legs. His price has now fallen to a point where he makes for an intriguing play. I love the idea of pairing Jennings with Arceneaux.
LaDarius Perkins – Edmonton Eskimos vs. Saskatchewan RoughRiders – $6700
You can expect ridiculous ownership on Andrew Harris, but for good reason. He will likely not go for 100/100 again, but he still has a solid shot at being the highest scoring running back this week. I do like LaDarius Perkins though. Reports are that both Adarius Bowman and Brandon Zylstra are returning to practice, and I think at least Zylstra could play this week. The bottom line is the more the offensive weapons, the better I like Perkins. The Eskimos want to run the ball, and Perkins is the top, and only, dog. Even in a bad game last week, he still managed double digit points. I like his upside this week. For what it is worth, teams coming off byes still do not look great.
Roy Finch – Calgary Stampeders vs. Toronto Argonauts – $5300
Right now, Jerome Messam is banged up. He sat out much of the end of the game last week, and yielded the wear down work to Finch. As of now, there is not much about Messam out there, but if he was to miss this game, Finch could in fact end up being a lock for me. He is cheap, he returns punts and kicks and he has a motor. This is a perfect situation for Finch, and he really has nothing but upside if things pan out this way.
Emmanuel Arceneaux – BC Lions @ Ottawa REDBLACKS – $7900
After a solid game last week, we see Arceneaux’s price jump $600. He really has not been able to put together a monster game this year, but instead remains a pretty solid all around option. At this price, especially if Bryan Burnham remains sidelined, Arceneaux will be a lock in the vast majority of my lineups. I feel like I have said it before, but I really do believe that this will be the week that Manny goes ham.
Brad Sinopoli – Ottawa REDBLACKS vs. BC Lions – $8300
Last week, it was Greg Ellingson who had the monster week. Could it be time for Sinopoli this week? The upside is there for him to have a big game, and with how bad the running game looked last week, it would not be shocking to see the passing game being leaned on even heavier. With the price of Ellingson and his likely ownership, I would rather just side with Sinopoli this weekend.
Nik Lewis – Montreal Alouettes vs. Winnipeg BlueBombers – $5500
Lewis is one of the most overlooked fantasy assets because he is probably a better football player than he is a fantasy asset. That statement out of the way, he makes a sneakier play this week. I would expect this game to be a tight back and forth affair, and I can see the short passes to Lewis being a major factor here. If he is able to get into the endzone, he could be the tournament winner, but he has only gotten there once this year.
