Best NHL DFS FantasyDraft, FanDuel and DraftKings Picks & Tips – 2/26/17

Welcome to another edition of ResearchFantasy’s NHL Breakdown. These picks are what I consider to be the best play of the day, relative to their price. One of the most important things we must consider in daily fantasy is how many points a player gets per dollar. It helps us identify value plays to pair with studs that we know will produce in order to maximize our potential points in lineups. I also try to identify plays that can be used in either cash games or tournaments. Typically, when I build my cash games, I am looking for players that have the best floor combined with good upside. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know!

Prices listed are FantasyDraft/FanDuel/DraftKings

David Krejci (NA/5400/4900) – One of the first games that catches my eye tonight is the Boston/Dallas game, which should be sure to hold some high scoring potential. I will gladly look at the second line for Boston against a horrible Stars team to build around, which means that Krejci will make his way into a ton of my lineups. We’ve seen him put up some big games over the last few years, and this could very well be another one tonight,

Jack Eichel (15400/7300/7400) – Eichel is another guy that it makes sense to put into your lineups tonight. He’s shooting the puck a ton, and he’s getting a great matchup against the Arizona Coyotes tonight. His price is fair for someone who could end up putting some huge numbers on the board this evening. This is probably my second favorite game to target for obvious reasons.

Cody Eakin (NA/3800/3900) – Eakin might seem like an odd name to see on this list, but he’s moved to the top line, and has been very effective over his last three games, putting up at least a point per game in that time span. The Bruins have actually been pretty poor when it comes to defending the position, so I think we’ll see him put up another game in the mid-teens tonight.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (8900/4900/4400) – RNH is probably the riskiest option of the bunch tonight, as he hasn’t been as electric, but he’s a very talented player who can put up big games from time to time. Nashville has been a great situation to target, as they have been scoring and giving up goals by the bucket, so there is always a ton of built in upside. I think for his price he can really help you out tonight.

Wings –

Jimmy Vesey (8200/4100/4100) – Jimmy Vesey isn’t someone who makes this list often, in fact, this is only the second time we’ve seen him in our breakdowns. The first time, he came through with a decent outing a few nights ago against the Jets. Tonight, he will get another plus matchup against the Blue Jackets who are always a team that could cough up a big game to the competition. He’s better suited for tournaments, but I think the top line could come through.

Jeff Skinner (NA/6500/6000) – When in doubt, roll Jeff Skinner out. That’s what I always say. On his home ice, against a Calgary team that isn’t ready to stop anything anymore, I could see Skinner paying huge dividends at this price. He’s one of the guys I’m going to build my teams around tonight, and I think that is going to end up being a pretty profitable venture tonight.

Filip Forsberg (13200/7300/6400) – Forsberg is probably my favorite play of the day. He’s on fire right now, and there is no reason to not look his way. This game should be wild offensively, and I’m expecting Forsberg to be a big part of what this team does on the offensive side. Edmonton is not a great team on the defensive side of the puck, so feel free to load up on the Predators.

Reilly Smith (9200/5000/4500) – Smith is another guy I like tonight, and he has been playing pretty well as of late. The Senators are very much hurting right now, dealing with a variety of injuries, and I think it’s going to start to show over the next few games. I’m expecting Smith to be able to get things done here, and he comes in at a very fair price.

Defensemen –

Torey Krug (NA/5600/5300) – Krug finds himself in an ideal situation tonight with the Bruins going on the road to take on the Stars. We know all about the defensive woes of the Stars, and that opposing defensemen have eaten them alive for years. Krug is one of the best at the position, so I would expect that he can get things done for us tonight.

Rasmus Ristolainen (11600/5400/5600) – Rasmus is probably my favorite defesemen in the league, and he gets one of the next best matchups tonight as he and his teammates take on the Coyotes. This could be a high scoring affair, and I’m expecting that Rasmus will fill up the stat sheet tonight.

Dion Phaneuf (9000/4700/4400) – Next up, we’ll take a look at Dion Phaneuf and the Senators taking on the Panthers. Even though the Senators are under manned, I think they should be able to do some damage against this Panthers team, and that should result in some pretty nice fantasy scores. Phaneuf has been very good, and he’s a major discount to teammate Erik Karlsson. This is a great situation to exploit.

Justin Faulk (NA/4900/5700) – Last up, let’s throw out another Hurricane tonight, this time Justin Faulk. One of the reasons I like Faulk is that his goal to assist ratio is even, which means if he has a good game, he’s probably got a good chance of leading the position. That is a great thing to say about someone who is priced lower than he should be. I love the idea of stacking him with Skinner tonight.

Goalies –

New York Rangers Goalie – The Rangers are the first team that catches my eye tonight, sitting on home ice taking on the Blue Jackets. I think they should be score enough that getting a win is well within reason, and that is something that I certainly do take into consideration.

Chicago Goalie – I think we could also consider Chicago tonight. I think that they should be able to hold off the St. Louis Blues on the road. I would expect them to score some goals en route to the win tonight.
