2017 NFL Bye Weeks and What They Mean to You

2017 NFL Bye Weeks and What They Mean to You 2017 NFL BYE WEEKS: 5: Falcons, Broncos, Saints, Redskins 6: Bills, Bengals, Cowboys, Seahawks 7: Lions, Texans 8: Cardinals, Packers, Jaguars, Rams, Giants, Titans 9: Bears, Browns, Chargers, Vikings, Patriots, Steelers 10: Ravens, Chiefs, Raiders, Eagles 11: Panthers, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, 49ers, Buccaneers There will be no week 12 or week 13 bye weeks this year.  Last year the Titans and Browns were off week 13 which put a wrench in some fantasy playoff rosters.  The byes are a bit more condensed.  They don’t start till week 5 and they are done after week 11.  What does this mean to you?  You’ll have more players off.  If you like QB/WR or QB/TE connections, you may want to be mindful of what else you have on your roster.  If you’re a good drafter and pay attention to the waiver wire, you can handle these things.  If you’re someone who rarely makes moves and lets the draft decide their season, be mindful.  For example, in a keeper league, I have Gronkowski and Brady.  I also have Melvin Gordon.  That’s three guys off.  These condensed bye weeks can also mean more trade opportunities.  Does someone have Cam Newton and Tannehill off?  Do you have a 3rd QB you can trade?  Makes sense in week 11.  Especially if that person is trying to...

Top 5 Possible Quarterback Moves for 2017

Top 5 Possible Quarterback Moves for 2017 Stop me if you’ve heard this one: QB on the move this upcoming NFL season.  As sure enough as Nick does not like the PSU (now NY Jet) QB who shall not be named and as sure enough as Ben loves him some 80s/90s rap/hip hop, sure enough is that QBs will be on the move every year in the NFL season.  Let’s look at a few QBs that could have new uniforms in 2017 and where they could play. Jimmy Garoppolo – New England Patriots.  Bill Belichick could take a guy from Taco Bell, put him in at QB for a game, and we’d see rumors that he’ll be traded for a 1st round pick.  The Jimmy Garoppolo contest is on come March 9th.  You’ll see Cleveland on just about every QB list.  A QB under Hue Jackson has a shot to shine.  If you listen to the podcast, you’ll hear the love for Josh McCown who has played well in Cleveland.  I think he’d be an interesting fit.  A dark horse to think about as well is Chicago.  Cutler is gone.  Brian Hoyer can play well for 4 or 5 games until he’s hurt.  Will they roll the dice?  It wouldn’t be the worst move.  If the Patriots really are looking for a 1, I don’t think he goes anywhere. ...

NFL Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 8

NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 8 QB: Ryan Tannehill – MIA (22% owned) : He’s got the Jets week 9.  Been some nice 300 yd / multiple TD games against the JETS defense. Colin Kaepernick – SF (7% owned): I know I know but he’s going against the Saints.  They have a swiss cheese secondary. Starting QB for Browns: Kessler or McCown?  Who knows but with Corey Coleman coming back, Pryor proving he can play, Barnidge at TE, and a good run game, there’s some fantasy appeal here.   RB: Charcandrick West – KC (10% owned): Jamaal Charles could be done.  Spencer Ware has a concussion.  This leaves Charcandrick West as the main guy.  He played well when was “the man” before.  If Ware is out week 9, the matchup against the Jaguars is great. Tim Hightower – NO (7% owned): Sorry Mark Ingram fans but you’re in a full RBBC and Hightower could end up taking the job for himself.  That said, he could lose the job next week.  At the least, he is worth a roster spot. Rob Kelley – WAS (34% owned): There’s a good chance he’s owned in your league.  If not, grab him.  Matt Jones could/may/might take the starting job back when he’s healthy but Kelley did play well in London against the Bengals.  If nothing else, stash him until Matt...

NFL Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 7

NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups – 2016 Week 7 QB: Jay Cutler – CHI (5% owned): No seriously.  Stop laughing.  Hoyer is out.  Matt Barkley as a starter?  Cutler is cleared to return.  He’ll be a low QB2.  In 2 QB leagues, he’ll give you a good week or so then you can hate him again.  He’s got Jeffery (great news for his owners), Zach Miller, and other WR options.  He has the Vikings in week 8, not good.  Out of his 9 week bye, Cutler goes against the Buccaneers defense (middle of the road), Giants defense (bad), Titans (not great here kids), and 49ers (LOL). Ryan Fitzpatrick – NYJ (19% owned): Sure he comes of like a whiner but he’s going against the Cleveland Browns so that’s something to be excited about.  If he throws 7 more INTs, he’s probably getting pulled for Bryce Petty or NickfromCWE’s favorite QB… he who shall not be named. Trevor Siemian – DEN (11% owned): He has the Chargers, Raiders, and Saints coming up.  That alone, plus his ability to be just a little more than a game manager, makes him worthy of a roster spot.  His overall talent isn’t stellar but his supporting cast and schedule are great. RB: Devontae Booker – DEN (36% owned): This offense is getting really good.  This offense is a run offense.  CJ Anderson and...

NFL Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 5

NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 5   QB: Brian Hoyer – CHI (18%): He could very well hold the job throughout the season.  Also, Cutler is gone next year.  If you’re in a dynasty or deep keeper league, this may be a nice steal if you can still get him.  He has Oakland, New Orleans, Indy, Jacksonville, Carolina, and TB coming up.  Find me an easier schedule.  Go ahead.  I dare you. Colin Kaepernick – SF (2%): He helps you out with his rushing yards.  He’s proved to be a great fantasy QB in the past.  He has a run game.   All of that should have you willing to give him a chance if you can.   RB: Jacquizz Rodgers – TB (20%): He proved very well Monday night.  That said, Doug Martin will be back week 7.  The BUCS are on a bye week 6.  Charles Sims is on IR so Rodgers will be the handcuff there. James Starks – GB (10%): He may only start one week (if that) and I am not totally excited with that matchup but Lacy owners may be struggling. Matt Asiata – MIN (16%): Hi I’m Matt Asiata.  I like scoring touchdowns and scoring touchdowns.  In 2014 when AP wasn’t playing, Asiata put up 9 TDs.  AP isn’t playing again.  Doesn’t mean the same will happen but Asiata is...
