2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational DFS Picks for DraftKings

This week, the PGA Tour is traveling to Orlando for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which was won by Jason Day last year, with a final score of -17. This will be the first Arnold Palmer Invitational since the passing of the golf ambassador. Bay Hill plays at a par 72. Bay Hill continues to be a rewarding course for the players who find it easy to hit fairways and go for the green. Bay Hill also ranked as one of the easier courses last year. I expect an enjoyable week for the golfers and some low scores. I imagine the low scores will be associated with birdies or better after going for the green, greens in regulation, and putting. All of these statistics were relevant last year, and will be again this year.

Golfer (Fantasy Draft/ Draft Kings) -World Rank-

Henrik Stenson (22000/11500)-No. 5- Stenson seemed to catch every bad break possible last week at Valspar, and wasn’t able to execute. However, he still finished T-7 and is one of my favorite picks this week. He has never missed a cut at Bay Hill and finished T-3 last year after finishing T-15, T-8, T-5 and 2nd in his last 4 appearances here. Henrik is still in the top ranked in greens in regulation with a 70.14% and a 77.78% going for the green: birdie or better. Stenson should be seeking some redemption this week after letting Valspar slip from his grip.

Rory McIlory (22700/12000)-No. 3- In Rory’s only 2 starts here, he is T-27 and T-11. He played well at WGC- Mexico T-7 considering he was coming off a rib injury. Rory is another player who stats are almost all at the top, however, that comes with his hefty price tag. Rory is a great player to build a team around this week. Rory is 74.31% in greens in regulation and 46.15% in going for the green: birdie or better (low percentage considering price). Aside from the percentages, Rory is still ranked No. 3 in the world for a reason: he is good!

Rickie Fowler (20700/9900)- No. 9-  Rickie has been playing some lights out golf! A big win at the Honda Classic and T-16 at WGC- Mexico, I have all the confidence in him this week at Bay Hill. Considering his price and stats, Fowler has a ton of value. Currently, Fowler is ranked No. 1 in scoring average (68.708). Fowler also carries a 72.84% in green in regulation and 70.34% in going for the green: birdie or better. Fowler’s stats are great across the board and at $20700 on Fantasy Draft and $9900 on Draft Kings he is a lock. Great player to build a team around, Fower is a match for any golfer.

Francesco Molinari (18200/8600)- No. 33- Molinari has finished top 20 in his last 8 of 9 worldwide starts. His last 3 appearances at Bay Hill he finished T-9, T-17, T-5. In his last 2 events (WGC- Mexico & Honda Classic) he has been T-20 or better. Molinari is 68.38% in greens in regulation and 59.57% in going for the green: birdie or better. Molinari is a name we keep hearing more and more of.

Byeong Hun An (16300/7000) –No. 48- So far this season B. An is 7 for 7 cuts made with 1 Top 10 finish. Finished 36 at Bay Hill last year. B. An’s price and stats have my attention. He is 68.45% in greens in regulation and 46.51% in going for the green: birdie or better. Great price and even better stats for the course!

Martin Laird (16400/8100)- No. 111- Currently 5/6 cuts made with 3 top 10 finishes. More importantly, Laird won here in 2011 and has never missed a cut at Bay Hill in all 7 of his starts. Laird is 69.62% in greens in regulation and 57.45% in going for the green: birdie or better.  Laird is ranked 2nd in Eagles (#eagles/#holes: 9/576*). I’m confident Laird will make it to the final round considering he has never missed a cut.

Lucas Glover (16200/6700) – No. 157- Glover is 5 for 5 cuts made this season with a T-18 at Valspar and T-21 at the Honda Classic. Very impressive, considering his price has been affordable all season. Glover is ranked top 10 in green in regulation with a 73.69% and a 68.18% in going for the green: birdie or better. Glover covers all the statistical requirements deemed necessary to produce points this week at Bay Hill.

Ian Poulter (15500/6800)- No. 204- Poulter has seen a fair amount of finals here at Bay Hill, with finishes at T-46, T-21, T-20, T-21, and a 3rd place finish in 2012 when he came out shooting a 5 under (67). Poulter has a lot of experience and his price is right. He is currently 6 for 6 cuts made finishing T-41 at Valspar, last week. Poulter is 64.72% in greens in regulation and ranked top 2 with 77.78% in going for the green: birdie or better. Poulter is definitely a valuable option this week at a fair price.

As an avid fantasy sports competitor, I have a big appetite for analyzing, organizing, and simplifying the most relevant information. I also have a never ending craving for consistency and success. With that being said, in fantasy golf I take into consideration the most important statistics, while evaluating other variables. My goal is to provide the best golf picks at various price targets, so other fantasy competitors can find themselves winning consistently. I diligently research each golf course before an event. With in-depth consideration of the course details, I come up with a list of statistical requirements. Golfers who meet these requirements are more likely to produce points in each tournament. I take a wide variety of statistical information and break it down to brass tacks.
